The Best Legend of Zelda Games

In the recently concluded E3 2016 event, Nintendo showcased a brand new Legend of Zelda game entitled “Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild”.

It will be the 19th installment in the franchise and it has amazing new elements added to it such as an open-world for people to explore as well as some sci-fi elements included to the game as well.

In this article, I want to look back at some of the best Legend of Zelda games of old. If you want to know and grasp the feel of the game before the Breath of the Wild releases, then definitely try these timeless classics:

  1. Wind Waker. This is the first Legend of Zelda game to feature cell-shaded graphics. Although some fans, especially purists, initially do not want the idea, that was instantly changed after the game’s release. The gameplay is just absolutely amazing and there is a lot to explore in the game. Also, the Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker is the first Zelda game to feature open-sea exploration, allowing players to explore other places other than Hyrule.
  2. A Link to the Past. If there is a game that paved the way for other sequels to follow, this would be one of them. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past’s gameplay has been copied in other installments of the franchise. It is probably the quintessential entry of the franchise because not only is it a master of the 16-bit graphics but it also has some interestingly fun gameplay as well. Also, fans of the game said that even though they’ve played this game many times, it still feels refreshing every time they play it again.
  3. Majora’s Mask. At first, people do not like this installment as the graphics of the game is quite similar to its predecessor, the Ocarina of Time. But, after they’ve actually played the game, that perception was changed dramatically. The fans’ perception of the game changed for the better after seeing that there is a time component added into the game. Basically, this game gives you a sense of urgency and you also have the ability to manipulate time as well. Also, the antagonist of this game gives a more in-depth feel of what an antagonist should be and he was given a proper backstory so that people can empathize with him.
  4. Ocarina of Time. This was the very first Legend of Zelda game that made the huge jump from 2D to 3D graphics. I saved the best for last because a lot of people think that this game is one of the best games of all time. The game has created a dynamic where a lot of games followed and that is the Z-targeting System. This system is a great way to add excitement in the game, especially in battle sequences. Furthermore, the musical score is top notch and people always come back to the game’s memorable soundtracks for years.

If you want to relive some of the Legend of Zelda games, the four games I highlighted above should give you the excitement you need to appreciate the upcoming Legend of Zelda game even more.

Kingdom Hearts 3D

If you are an RPG aficionado, then you would have come across the Kingdom Hearts game. Kingdom Hearts is a game where you travel to the different worlds of Disney’s iconic characters.

Today, we are going to discuss a Kingdom Hearts game that is specially made for the Nintendo 3DS, the Kingdom Hearts 3D.

Kingdom Hearts 3D is dubbed Dream Drop Distance and the story revolves around Sora and Riku’s Mark of Mastery, an exam that will propel them to be masters of the craft. They are preparing for the exam before their master, Master Xehanort arrives.

The action-packed gameplay and the Disney characters that are in the game are what makes the Kingdom Hearts franchise a massive hit among many people.

Kingdom Hearts 3D allows you to play with either Sora or Riku and you can interchange them during the course of the game with the help of the “Drop Gauge”. This gauge depletes over time and when it is empty, you will then switch to the other character (if you’re using Sora, you will then control Riku after the Drop Gauge is fully depleted and vice versa).

Even though you can only control either Sora or Riku, you can acquire the aid of “Dream Eaters” to aid you in combat.

As mentioned previously, what made Kingdom Hearts as a franchise popular among many RPG gamers is that you can travel to the different worlds of Disney characters. The worlds that you can travel in Kingdom Hearts 3D are from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Fantasia, Tron: Legacy, Pinocchio, and the Three Musketeers.

Both worlds have to parallel stories, both for Sora and Riku. Both of their storylines should be completed in order for you to travel into the next Disney World.

If you visit a certain Disney world for the very first time, both Sora and Riku will be immersed into a dive section where they have to travel into a small tube filled with monsters. There are certain objectives you must complete before you can enter the Disney world. These objectives range from killing a certain number of monsters, killing a mini-boss, among others.

There are also three things Sora and Riku can do when you are in the dive section. Both of them can either slow down their descent, dodge opponent attacks or kill opponents.

As for the game’s plot, the story is centered on both Sora and Riku’s training in order to become masters of the Keyblade. The main antagonist of the story is the younger incarnation of Xehanort, which was also the mysterious figure in previous installments of the game.

Here are some of the Disney characters that will be seen in this game (this list is in no particular order or appearance):

  • Mickey Mouse
  • Donald Duck
  • Goofy
  • The Three Musketeers
  • Yen Sid
  • Maleficent
  • Pete
  • Quasimodo
  • Pinocchio
  • Minnie Mouse

The Kingdom Hearts 3D makes use of all the technologies that are present in the Nintendo 3DS console, most especially the dual screens. If you want to have a fun and awesome Action RPG for your Nintendo 3DS, definitely get Kingdom Hearts 3D.

I was going to get the chroma version, but I don’t think it has the option for silent keys (plus I would not spend money just to get rainbow keys lol). Overall, this is a great keyboard. If you are hesitant on buying this, don’t be I promise you won’t regret buying it! :)”
