DesMuME Emulator for the Nintendo 3DS

R4 3DS cards are amazing flashcards that can bypass the Nintendo 3DS security checks so you can hack the portable gaming console.

One of the most notable features of the R4 3DS cards is the fact that you can download, install, and play homebrew games and applications right on your Nintendo 3DS.

If you’ve already missed the Nintendo DS console and its impressive lineup of games, then you may want to use a DS emulator. Did you know that you can play DS games right on your Nintendo 3DS with the use of R4 3DS cards?

You can actually do that. Today, we are going to talk about a homebrew emulator called the DesMuME Emulator for the Nintendo 3DS. The DesMUME emulator is a Nintendo DS emulator that you can install on your Nintendo 3DS console. Of course, before you can install this emulator on your Nintendo 3DS, you need to have a compatible R4 3DS card.

There are many of them out there, but if you do not want to dish out a huge price for one, you can opt for the R4i Gold R4 3DS card for only $18.

The DesMuME Emulator for the Nintendo 3DS was created by a programmer named “YopYop156”. He is a very good computer programmer and he actually created the first version of the emulator for the Windows platform.

The DesMuME Emulator for the Nintendo 3DS was originally in French (because YopYop156 is from France). But, ever since the fans wanted to have an English version, he released a different version that supports multiple languages. So, it was kind of him to do that for the fans.

Now, how can you install DesMUME on your Nintendo 3DS so that you can enjoy nds games? Well, the first thing you need to do is buy yourself an R4 3DS card. You can opt for the aforementioned R4i Gold R4 3DS card or you can buy other premium R4 3DS cards out there on the market.

Here are the steps you need to do in order to install and run the DesMUME emulator:

  1. Download the DesMUME emulator from the official website
  2. Extract the contents of the DesMUME zip file and put it in the root folder of your microSD card
  3. Put the microSD card in your R4 3DS card and insert it in your Nintendo 3DS
  4. Power on your Nintendo 3DS portable gaming console and just follow on-screen instructions
  5. Load up your favorite games and you’re good to go!

Now, modern R4 3DS cards do have support for Nintendo DS games without the need for a dedicated NDS emulator. But, if you have older versions of the R4 3DS cards, then you can use this guide to install the DesMUME on your Nintendo 3DS.

The Nintendo DS has a lot really great games and it will be a shame if you do not play them. So, if you have a Nintendo 3DS console, play retro NDS games by having an R4 3DS card.
